About

Marc Vecchio is a Melbourne-based writer and director whose work blends hyperrealism with a subtle sense of the surreal. His films are deeply personal, often rooted in lived experience, and explore themes of life, death, and moral ambiguity within family dynamics and personal relationships.
Marc’s short film For My Mother was nominated for Best International Short at the 2025 Catalina Film Festival and beginning its domestic festival run early 2026. . His broader body of work spans music videos, commercial campaigns for Mazda, and a range of short narrative films.
He is currently in post-production on several projects, including He Will Be Gone — a black-and-white horror co-directed with Jesse Leaman and shot by Carl Allison (Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism), starring Liv Fildes (Sunflower). He is co-directing a feature documentary with his partner, Vessela Karadjova, exploring the effects of separation on an immigrant family. Two years in the making, the film has been shot on location in Bulgaria.
A passionate lover of cinema, Marc draws from European sensibilities while merging them with Western filmmaking traditions. As a trained actor, Marc brings an intuitive understanding of performance and communication with talent to every project. His directorial style is deliberate and restrained, often favouring longer takes and composed, static framing — yet adaptable to the rhythm and needs of each story he tells.
